Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the access to higher education of the students of the popular classes, from the implementation of public policies to democratize this access, specifically in the Viçosa-MG city. It is a qualitative research, with a case study through the application of questionnaires to 50 high school students of the public basic education. From the data collected, the following results were obtained: the indication for some students' demands for admission to higher education; the small number of places in public universities; there are lack of financial resources what allow the maintenance and completion of the course.
