Music education and music therapy are practices that utilize music in distinct ways, but both play fundamental roles in child development, especially in the school environment. Music education is an educational process that introduces music into children’s daily lives, aiming to develop cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills. Through playful activities such as singing, playing instruments, and dancing, music education stimulates cognitive development, improving memory, concentration, and logical reasoning. Furthermore, it allows children to express their emotions, contributing to self-awareness and self-esteem, while group interaction fosters respect, empathy, and teamwork. This research aims to analyze the relevance of music therapy and music education for the development of autistic students. To conduct this study, a bibliographic review of relevant articles and books on musicalization and music therapy was conducted, using references from authors such as Oliveira (2004), Silva e Almeida (2019),
Aldridge (2005) e Caldeira (2008), among others, focusing on their applications in child development and the school context. Information was collected on practices carried out in schools, as well as testimonials from educators and music therapists. The conclusion is that musicalization and music therapy are powerful tools, capable of transforming children’s development in cognitive, emotional, and social aspects. Integrating these practices into the school environment enriches the educational experience
and promotes an inclusive and healthy space, promoting the well-being and learning of all students.
