CHILDHOOD AND CULTURE IN THE PERIPHERY: THE ROLE OF SOCIAL EDUCATION IN SHAPING OF CITIZENS

Social Education is an educational modality that aims to promote social inclusion through education, providing assistance and raising awareness among those who receive assistance. Thus, it highlights the work carried out, which develops the formation of the individual as a fundamental social being for his/her population, valuing everything that he/she carries with him/her. This specific work will focus on childhood and culture in the outskirts of the city, with the aim of understanding peripheral childhood and its entire culture, in order to understand the importance of social education in this context. Childhood goes beyond an age group; despite involving the biological aspects of the individual, it also involves cultural and social perspectives according to the cycle in which each person is inserted. The research will focus on childhood in the outskirts of the city, basing its approach on the concepts of theorist Lev Vygotsky, who understands the influence of the environment and social relations in the construction of the individual. This research aims to analyze the performance of Social Education, highlighting the importance of teaching beyond the institutional one that focuses on formal pedagogical training, carried out through a case study carried out through field research in a social institution in the municipality of Campos dos Goytacazes for a few months. Understanding the fundamental educational processes in
the human being beyond the school environment.
