Abstract

In the contemporary sociocultural context, many are the demands to be connected in the digital social networks, due to the wide use of the digital media in the most different everyday situations, this demand is not always healthy, because can lead to illness. This study questions, then: which way the use of the digital technologies has contributed to its users illness? The purpose of the article is, that way, analyse the illness caused by the use of digital media in the contemporary society in Phenomenological-Existential Psychology. It is seeken to discuss about the understanding of human illness by the phenomenological-existential approach in psychology; about the impact of the use of the digital media in ones health. The methodology use is the bibliographical research, based on works by authors such as Heidegger (2009), Teixeira (2006) e Forghieri (2002). The study points out that the use of the digital media can or can not contribute to people’s illness, because it is up to them to choose the way they will use these technologies and accept the responsibility for this choice, considering its consequences and its unpredictable developments.
