MEASURES TO PREVENT POST-BREAST DEPRESSION

This article aims to address a modality of psychiatric illness that has afflicted a large part of the female population - postpartum depression. The objective of this study is to discuss issues related to its incidence in order to identify the risk groups affected by this disease, as well as the main symptoms in order to prevent and even enable early treatment as a way to combat the disease. Some aspects of postpartum depression are discussed and the importance of the health professional and family members acting in recognition and intervention as soon as the first symptoms are presented. During the gestational period the woman undergoes several physical changes and hormonal changes that can cause emotional instability, fear, insecurity or even psychological problems arising from the baby's development, which can lead to intense anxiety, evolving into a depressive condition. The changes occur gradually and extend to the postpartum period, where the tendency is to worsen the picture with a supposed loss of feeling about the baby (who is no longer in her womb) or feeling of abandonment people who seem to pay more attention to the child than to her. The relevance of the research is in the search for solutions to these issues that afflicts women, preventing them from experiencing motherhood with health and mental and emotional well-being, as well as awakening to the need to adopt public prevention policies. is qualitative, based on authors studies of the subject as CABRAL; MARINI; MORAIS (2013) and DUQUE; FREITAS; SCARABEL (2011).
